Founded in October of 2021, Chabad of White Marsh became the 28th Chabad Center in Maryland – focusing on providing Jewish experiences and programming for families in our community. Since that time, THE AVENUE at White Marsh has provided Chabad of White Marsh with a location to host an annual Menorah Lighting to celebrate Chanukah.
Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights, celebrates the rededication of the second Jewish temple in Jerusalem. We will gather to celebrate as a community and light our 12-foot menorah on the first night – Sunday, December 14th.
The celebration will include:
Donuts
Latkes
Ice Skating
and more!
The word “menorah” is Hebrew for “lamp” and refers to the eight flamed lamp that is lit on the eight nights of Chanukah. The lighting of the Menorah is a symbol and message of the triumph of freedom over oppression, of spirit over matter, of light over darkness.
A little bit of light dispels a lot of darkness.
