Missiles in your backyard! During the Cold War, Project Nike stood as a silent guardian, ready to intercept Soviet bombers targeting Baltimore and DC. Today, site BA-79 is one of only five remaining Nike bases in the country open to the public. Step back in time and explore a fascinating, frightening and almost forgotten chapter of American history.

Special Guest: Francis Gary Powers, Jr., historian, author and son of U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers, will be on hand to sign his book and discuss his father’s amazing story, the need to honor Cold War veterans, preserve Cold War history, and educate future generations about this period in time. Mr. Powers will be signing copies of his book Spy Pilot from 1-3 pm.

The Strohmer’s Farm Food Truck will be on site again so plan to have lunch at a nuclear missile base!
