Members of the Maryland Center for History and Culture enjoy free access to this intimate chamber music performance and light reception at the Maryland Center for History and Culture.
Written in 2025 for Trio Sirenes, Brian Prechtlߴs “The Seven Chakras” explores the textures, colors, and rhythms for flute, viola, harp, and percussion inspired by the chakras. From complex rhythmic figures to soaring melodies, this piece describes the energy centers in the body. Le Tombeau de Couperin was written as a memorial to François Couperin, as well as dedicating each movement to friends he lost in the Great War and at the Battle of Verdun. This charming baroque suite is well-known in a piano solo or orchestral version, and this performance will be played by flute, viola, and harp.
