EVENT PRESS RELEASE
What’s 9 and Divine? Towson’s best café, Coffee Talk, of course!
Coffee Talk Café is celebrating another year of serving Towson’s downtown core from their airy shop at 22 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Pottery is the traditional ninth-anniversary gift. Like pottery, Coffee Talk has been carefully molded into something of beauty, utility, and lasting presence. Nara Khakurel and his team continue to spread love and good cheer with every delicious fresh-made sandwich they make. With a deep commitment to the local community, their coffee is hot from Zeke’s and their ice cream is cool from Taharka Bros.
“Nara and his family are the heart and soul of Coffee Talk. Their warmth, kindness, and dedication shine through in every dish and every interaction. They’ve created more than just a restaurant—it’s a place where guests feel like family, are always welcomed with a smile, and served a meal made with love. Their passion for great food and hospitality makes every visit special!” says Nancy Hafford, Executive Director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce, .and frequent customers of the café.
Nara still recalls transitioning from his native Nepal where he managed several successful cafes to remolding a struggling Uncle Wiggly’s store in 2016 into his ongoing vision and mission – provide a welcome spot with good food and positive, welcoming vibes. The shop is a family affair, with his wife Kristine and children Kara and Zara putting their own stamp on the look and feel of the café and its associated social media presence. Team members Shirley, Snake, and Gracie also ensure everyone feels welcome when they enter the doors.
As Nara puts it: “We feel truly blessed to have so many customers who are also our friends. We love Towson and Baltimore and Maryland and are proud of our accomplishments here. I just love what I do. What could be more divine?”
Come and join Nara in toasting his success in running downtown Towson’s longest-serving zen-like local café for the last 9 years on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Gifts of pottery are not required.
