Chords and Cadence

Chords & Cadence pairs Baltimore’s own Wordsmith-, multidisciplinary artist, with violinist Meira Silverstein, who has shared the stage with Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Enya. A BSO Artistic Partner since 2020, Wordsmith has spent years fusing hip-hop narration with classical and orchestral music, and this performance carries that same spirit into an intimate setting, uniting two artists who’ve each spent their careers proving genre is a starting point, not a boundary. Audiences won’t just hear strings, piano, and spoken word side by side — they’ll experience the art forms in real conversation, each shaping and responding to the other in the moment. It’s a program built for listeners who love the concert hall and listeners who’ve never set foot in one, a rare crossing of tradition and today that speaks to who we are as a musically creative community.
