Intro to Leather working: Belt making class

In this class, each student will create a handcrafted leather belt from start to finish. Prior to registration, students will choose their leather and buckle style to make a unique belt that reflects their personal style.
Using a sizing belt, students will determine the correct fit and learn how to accurately mark their belt using templates. They will shape the belt ends with a strap-end punch and use traditional hand tools, including a hammer and hole punch, to create all necessary holes.
Students will then learn how to punch and hand-stitch the belt to securely attach the buckle. To complete the project, they will use an edge beveler to round the belt edges, with the option to dye the edges for a customized look. Finally, students will burnish the edges to achieve a smooth, professional finish.
By the end of the class, each student will leave with a durable, custom-made leather belt and a solid introduction to fundamental leatherworking techniques. Suitable for ages 14 and up.
Please Note: If you are making the belt for someone other than yourself, please bring one of their used belts. Using a worn belt to find their most used size hole, you can determine the correct sizing.
