The Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) will host the fourth annual See Beyond Festival on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its campus (3501 Taylor Ave, Baltimore, MD 21236). This free, community event encourages people of all ages and abilities to “see beyond” by participating in adapted activities aimed to help all learn about and embrace accessibility. New this year, the See Beyond Festival will feature a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) theme, bringing exciting new experiences for attendees as we celebrate accessibility for all.
All visitors to The See Beyond Festival will have the unique opportunity to try adaptations, with the use of light-blocking eye shades, in a host of blind sports, including beep baseball, blind soccer, blind lacrosse, and sprint track. Visitors will also be able to experience adaptations in STEM, robotics, gaming, photography, and technology to discover first-hand how designing for accessibility benefits everyone.
The 2025 See Beyond Festival will also feature:
● A Kid Zone offering free balloon animals, face painting, sensory and braille crafts and interactive activities. Kids are also invited to enjoy MSB’s fully-accessible playground.
● Try blind sports, including beep baseball, blind soccer, blind lacrosse, and sprint track.
● Blind food tastings.
● Accessible gaming and tech demos.
● A variety of food trucks and local vendors.
● A Maker’s Market and Vendor Fair, featuring local crafters and vendors.
● Live music from local performers. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
● A community art project with Baltimore Clayworks.
● Guide dog demonstrations*.
