The Crises Donald Trump Must Confront: View of the Former Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
World Trade Center Baltimore
401 E Pratt St.
Baltimore, MD 21202
After 58 years of public service, Ben Cardin retired this month from the U.S. Senate, where his last post was one of the most prestigious in Congress, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.
We’ve asked Sen. Cardin to give us his perspective on the world crises President Trump must confront as he begins his second term in office.
He will speak in person on Wednesday, February 19, at the World Trade Center for what will be his 10th Council appearance since 1988. Please join us!
Sen. Cardin began his legislative career while in law school at age 22, elected to the Maryland State Assembly in 1967, where he served for 20 years, the last eight as Speaker. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1987 and to the U.S. Senate in 2007. He has never lost an election.
Sen. Cardin is credited with important domestic legislation such as health care, retirement benefits and small business but says he is proudest of his record in human rights. Since 1993, he has been on the Helsinki Commission, which oversees human rights in Europe.
We’ll meet in person at the World Trade Center, but the program will also be available to members over Zoom. We’ll begin with a reception at 5:15 to meet our speaker. We look forward to an engaging discussion on the future of US foreign policy and the challenges facing the new administration.
