Timonium, Par 71
The central part of the county is home to Fox Hollow Golf Course, one of the more welcoming courses for beginners and less experienced golfers. The wide, open fairways are outlined by minimal tree lines and approachable rough. In other words, you’ll have an easier time finding your ball after missing the fairway on the drive, and that usually makes for a more fun experience. The redesigned back nine creates a tougher play than the front, making this a balanced test for all skill levels.

Nestled in the northern region of the lush countryside is Greystone Golf Course, the most challenging of the five public courses. The country club-style course was created by architect Joe Lee, who famously designed over 200 courses (mostly in Florida), including three in Disney World. Much like the meticulous maintenance at Disney World, Greystone manages seven ponds and 80 bunkers inside of a landscape of hardwood trees, wetlands, native vegetation, and 140 feet of elevation that produces incredible views. This course provides a true challenge to both the beginner and experienced golfer.
Regular Season Rates (April-November):

Saturday-Sunday-Holiday: $47-$97

Hidden between Back River and the Chesapeake Bay is Rocky Point Golf Course, the only waterfront view on your tour of Baltimore County’s public courses. Golf with a river view is a good indicator that you’re going to have a great round despite what is on the scorecard. Much like a few courses on this list, the front nine plays more open and the back nine is tightly lined with trees. For the first time since 1971, Rocky Point will receive an updated modern expansion. A newly renovated clubhouse is expected late 2025-early 2026 and will feature enhanced amenities, increased event space, new commercial kitchen, and expanded pro shop, making this a great location to host meals and award ceremonies.

For over 50 years, Diamond Ridge Golf Course has been a favorite destination among Maryland residents. Tucked into the rural west side of the county, the course offers lush fairways and rolling hills that fill the landscape, making it a welcomed challenge for all ages and skill levels. The front and back nines are two very different tests. The front nine plays to a more open links-style, while the back nine features a narrow concept that is less forgiving. The course shares a clubhouse and practice facility with the Woodlands Golf Course, giving you a 36-hole tour.
