The Monkton Hotel
The Monkton Hotel was built in 1858 as a stop along the North Central Railway (NCR) that connected Baltimore to York, PA. The hotel became a place to stop for soldiers during the Civil War, merchants doing business, and city residents who wanted to escape the city. Since then, the hotel has gone through many iterations and now operates as a boarding house for long-term tenants as well as a few rooms for overnight stays. The Monkton Hotel also has a cafe and a bike and tube rental for visitors to enjoy the river and trail.
