Camp Puh’Tok’s Top Bar Stables in Monkton will get you set up for the perfect misty morning ride. Established in 1942, the camp is located on over 60 acres of serene woodlands, bordered by the Gunpowder Falls River and State Park. You’ll be greeted by their herd of beautiful horses, including five mustangs and several Chincoteague ponies. Lessons are available in both English and Western styles, and riders can choose from one-hour trail rides with a lesson, supervised outdoor arena practice time, brief mini-lessons for ages 2-5, or private lessons for beginners and intermediate riders.
Once you’re ready to dismount, the NCR Trail and Gunpowder River are right there for nature lovers to admire and explore. Craving an adventure on the water? Bring your bikes, tubes, or kayaks, or rent them at Monkton Bike and Tube, only five minutes away from Camp Puh’Tok.
After everyone’s had their fill of nature, it may be time to fill those bellies. Just another five minutes down the road from Monkton Bike and Tube, you’ll find Inverness Brewing, where adults can relax with a refreshing seasonal beer, and everyone can enjoy a hot brick oven pizza (or two!) after a fun-packed day.
